Originally Cajón was created in Latin America (more precisely Perú) by slaves from very common objects they had to handle during their workday, hence its name "cajón", which means large crate or box. It was introduced into Europe by Spanish musicians as a rhythmical accompaniment instrument to Flamenco music. Since then, it has become one of the most popular percussion instruments through innovation and skilled craftsmanship.
Schlagwerk has been setting the standard for quality and sound since 1990. For more than 20 years, the German manufacturer has been concentrating intensively on the further development of the Cajon. Nowadays, Schlagwerk Cajones can easily stand comparison with Cajones made by the best Sapnish or Peruvian traditional craftsmen.
Some cajones have a snare that consists in a piano or guitar string placed against the playing surface to give slap sounds that buzzing quality. The "2inOne" range has a special feature: its snare can be declutched with a simple operation to get the traditionally snare-free, original, Peruvian sound. So this "double" instrument can meet the expectations of any kind of percussionist.
This cajón has clear open tones, prominent snare and pretty dry basses. It is suitable either for beginners or advanced, demanding players.
