Deluxe Tabla set

Including a reinforced bag, two matching support rings, two protection covers for the heads and a tuning hammer, this set  of tabla drums is made in India and assembled with careful precision; they were designed to provide musicians with all the quality, reliability and sturdiness required in live performances and recording sessions.

This set includes a metal dayan (low-pitched drum) and a sheesham-wood bayan (high-pitched drum), both of thme being top-of-the-range items

The skins of both drums (upper heads) are covered with smaller, inner patches called syahi which were originally temporary, made from a mix of starch (rice or wheat) and black mineral powder. Nowadays, it’s been replaced by a permanent rubber patch. The precise construction and shaping of this area (especially on the smaller drum) is responsible for modification of the drum's natural overtones, resulting in the clarity of pitch and variety of tonal possibilities unique to this instrument.
